The special feature of the project here is the implementation of an energy management plan in its biodiesel plant resulting in the better productivity of its biodiesel output.

Apart from this, it has undertaken the installation of LED and solar powered lighting, the installation of inverters and the installation of digital power meters since 2021. This has resulted in annual electrical energy saving of about 17.8% in 2023 compared to the annual electricity consumption in the base year of 2020.

During the NEA 2024 evaluation, Petron Malaysia Refining and Marketing obtained the second highest score among the candidates in the Energy Management in the Large Industries category, leading it to be declared the runner up winner in this category.
